From the German company to a global player.

Already for many decades, the name DRAHTZUG STEIN stands for innovative, environmentally friendly products with highest application quality, cooperative research & development efforts, and a particular service based on real partnership. No wonder that companies from all over the world rely on these qualities. At all European locations of the DRAHTZUG STEIN HOLDING, state-of-the-art ecological production facilities process an annual total amount of about 50,000 tonnes of steel to produce wires for the most different applications.

By the time Georg Stein took over the wire drawing factory in the Altleiningen valley in 1941, no one could tell about such a successful development: The new owner faces the challenge to completely rebuilt an economically and technologically ruined company. Only after the currency reform of 1948, the situation improves – the use of new wire drawing machines and the erection of an annealing plant finally provide for modern production technology. In the following years of economic growth DRAHTZUG STEIN successfully produces plastic-covered wire goods for the booming household appliances industry. Until today, the production and sales of these high-quality products make up a considerable part of the company’s economic success. The production of cored wire for welding electrodes became another pillar of the company’s business. In 1964, the company develops a patented system for the production of seamless flux-cored welding wires. Ten years later, a newly designed basket spool for welding wire saving thousands of tonnes of plastic each year across the world, is another impressive proof of the company’s innovative power and commitment to deliver environmentally friendly solutions. At the same time, the company’s economic strength is demonstrated by the beginning of its initially only European and then worldwide expansion, which is still going on. Today, the DRAHTZUG STEIN HOLDING employs about 1,450 people worldwide.
